She uses Yamaha Corporation's Vocaloid 2 and Vocaloid 4 singing synthesizing technology. Her voice is sampled by Asami Shimoda. She has blue_eyes and short, blonde_hair in which she usually wears a big white hair_bow. Her and Kagamine_Len's names are derived from the concept of 'left' and 'right', like on earphones. Their surnames came from the Japanese words for "mirror" (鏡 kagami) and "sound" (音 ne). Crypton originally had the intention of distributing her and Len as twins, but this was not adopted. Crypton stated that they approved of the many different interpretations of Rin and Len's relationship that they saw in different works.
